Modes of Interpreting 5

  • Telephone interpreting
Phone interpreting is a service that connects human interpreters by phone to individuals who require to speak to each other but do not share a common language. The phone interpreter converts the spoken language from language to another, enabling listeners and speakers to understand each other. Interpretation over the phone most often takes place in consecutive mode, which means that the interpreter waits until the speaker finishes an utterance before rendering the interpretation in to the other language. Phone interpreting is modality or delivery mechanism for providing interpreting services. Other forms of delivering interpreting services include video interpreting and in-person interpreting Phone interpreting is a service that connects human interpreters by phone to individuals who require to speak to each other but do not share a common language. • Common use of Phone Interpreting
Phone interpreting may be used than onsite interpreting in some cases, when no onsite interpreter is available at the location where services are needed. However, phone interpreting is more often used for situations in which all parties who require to communicate are already speaking to another by phone (e.g. applications for insurance or credit cards that are taken over the phone, inquiries from consumers to businesses that happen by phone, etc.)
