Modes of Interpreting 6

  • Liaison interpreting
Liaison interpreting is a kind of consecutive interpreting, which is to some extent the most personal and casual type of interpreting. It is used chiefly for little groups or meetings (e.g. a business meeting between executives). For liaison interpreting, our experienced, qualified interpreters work both in to and out of their brother tongue.

  • Common use of Liaison interpreting
Liaison interpreting involves relaying what is spoken to, between, or among lots of people. This can be done after a short speech, or consecutively, sentence-by-sentence, or as chuchotage (whispering); aside from notes taken at the time, no equipment is used. Types of interpreting Liaison interpreting is useful for little groups or meetings, one-on-one interviews, etc. It is also useful for when the interpreter is being used as a chaperone, perhaps for a visit to a foreign country.
