Speaking for Children 2

  • Other suggestions
You can use simple & clear pics to present new language; you can mime/act situations; you can use reality  clothes, rings, animals, toy furniture, etc. What else could you use to present language orally?
  •    Controlled practice
Activities like these provide the basis for oral work, but do not always produce language without delay. Their purposes to train pupils to make use of correct, simple, useful language within a situation or context. Pupils may must repeat sentences, be corrected & go through the same thing several times. Familiarity & safety are necessary to help build up security in the language.
  •     Guided practice
Guided practice follows on directly from controlled practices & will often be completed either in pairs or in little groups. Guided practices usually give the pupils some kind of choice, but the choice of language is limited .the textbook are filled with exercises for guided practices & you can use picture or object or miming to help the pupils understand the content & practice the word telling the time, asking the way, speaking about colors, etc. hers are couple of such situation: What the time & chain work.
  • Dialogues & role play work
Working with dialogues is a useful way to bridge the gap between guided practice & freer activities. Controlled dialogues can basically create in to freer work when the pupils are prepared for it. Putting pupils in to pairs for doing the dialogues is a simple way of organizing even huge class.
  • Using objects.
How to make physical movements or objects can make a dialogue come alive for young kids, & give it an amusing communicative purpose. There is much more involved in these exchanges than language alone, & you may find that you require to act them out in the sister tongue. This type of activity works well with the to six year olds as well as the older kids.
  • Role play
Another way of presenting dialogues is through role play. In role play the pupils are pretending to be anyone else like the teacher or a shop assistant, or of their parents, etc. for young kids you ought to go from the structured to the more open type of activity.
  • Dialogues & role play are useful oral activities because:
  •    Pupils speak in the first & second person. Texts are often in the third person.
  •   Pupils learn to ask well as answer.
  •    They learn to make use of short complete bits of language & to reply appropriately.
  •     They dont use words, but also all the others parts of speaking a language  tone of voice, stress, intonation, facial expressions, etc.
  •   They can be used to encourage natural in the classroom, making up dialogues about the tiny things which have happened & which occupy the kids at that moment.
